Dr. Macy Santa Elena

Optometric Physician

About

Dr. Macy Santa Elena was born in the Philippines and moved to Vancouver, Canada with her family at age 4. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia in 2019. She then moved to Forest Grove, Oregon, and obtained her Optometry degree from Pacific University, graduating with honors. She was awarded the Practice Excellence Scholarship and the Professional Eye Care Associates of America Award at graduation.

During her final year of training, she completed a clinical externship at the Bend Veterans Affairs, where she treated and managed ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She then worked at a surgical center in Denver and performed pre- and post-op examinations on LASIK, cataract, and glaucoma patients. Lastly, she spent 6 months at private practices in Oregon and Nevada and is where she discovered that her true passion lies in private practice optometry. This is because private practice allows her to provide personalized care for each patient and gives her the time to develop long-lasting relationships with them and their families.

She has great interest in myopia management, pediatrics and dry eye disease. She is very excited to stay in the PNW and take advantage of all the outdoor activities it has to offer! In her down time, you can find her hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband and Aussiedoodle pup, Harlow.
